There was a point where I realised most of my “digital marketing knowledge” was just… watching people scroll. That’s honestly where some of the best research topics on digital marketing come from. Why do some Stories feel personal and others feel like shouting? Why do people trust a stranger’s review more than a brand’s own page? Why does one email get opened and another ignored for weeks?
You could build whole projects around things like:
how people react when they find out how much data a brand has on them
whether “relatable” content actually leads to sales or just likes
what happens to brand loyalty after a public mistake or controversy
None of this is abstract — it’s literally what we all live with every day online. If a question keeps popping into your head while you’re scrolling, that’s already a solid starting point for a research topic.
